Denver (Dara Zeier) — Temperatures have been warm, with highs in the upper 90s. The good news is that relief is on the way for the weekend, with cooler temperatures and rain and thunderstorm chances.
According to The Weather Channel, rain chances start on Friday and last through Monday.
“With as little as 1/12 inch of water on the road, tires have to displace a gallon of water per second to keep the rubber meeting the road. Drivers should reduce their speed to correspond to the amount of water on the roadway,” AAA Colorado said.
It is important to remember the following tips from AAA Colorado when you drive in the rain:
“Overall you want to be extra cautious in wet weather. Slow down, avoid hard braking or turning sharply and allow ample stopping distance between you and the cars in front of you. Also, do these things one-at-a-time. Brake, then turn, then accelerate,” AAA recommended.
If you or somebody you care about has been injured in an accident, you need to speak to an attorney immediately. If you believe that the accident was caused by another driver, a Denver car accident attorney may be able to help determine liability, handle all communication with the insurance carriers, and work to recover full compensation for your losses.
Car accidents that occur in rainy conditions could certainly be the fault of other parties, particularly if other drivers failed to take the rainy conditions into account when operating their vehicle.
